FCAB’s Healthy Eating & Food Preparation classes and workshops increase access to and education around healthy foods so that families and individuals can make better food choices, prepare healthy meals, and live healthier lifestyles.
Beginning in 2014, our staff has made nutrition educational presentations to over 100 attendees at the Twin Counties Just Health & Food Summit 2014 entitled Conversation: Role of Food and Health in Community Economic Development. In collaboration with the Edgecombe County Cooperative Extension Service, FCAB also provided Eat Smart and Move More initiatives that aimed to reduce the rising tide of obesity by teaching youth and families practical skills resulting in changed behaviors that help them to eat smart, move more and achieve a healthy weight.
Today, the project continues to help families learn how to eat healthier meals and snacks, stretch their food dollars and reduce the risk of food-borne illnesses.
