The primary goal of this position is to work with the Board in implementing the vision and mission of Franklinton Center at Bricks, Inc. (FCAB).
ABOUT US
Franklinton Center at Bricks, Inc. represents 152 years of faith, freedom, justice and equality. It is located on 245 acres of land in Whitakers, North Carolina that has been transformed from a slave plantation into sacred life-giving space for justice, equality, inclusivity and healing.
The Center’s symbol is the Sankofa Bird, whose feet are firmly planted forward while its head is turned backwards carrying a precious egg in its mouth, which represents our belief that the past, present and future connect; our past serves as a guide for our present and a blueprint for the next 152 years.
FCAB is on the Register of North Carolina State Historic Preservation and efforts are underway to secure recognition for the Center as a National Historic Landmark.
MISSION
To promote justice, equality, inclusivity and healing by providing a life-giving home to local, national, global programs and organizations.
VISION
To manifest a world where systematic oppression does not exist; to promote community, environmental, spiritual healing where the whole divinity of a person is realized; to honor and embrace memory and contributions of our elders; and to be an advocate for the educational and economic development of the rural area where the Center is located.
Four programmatic centers, called “Pillars,” embrace and represent our holistic mission and values. The Executive Director will work with the Board in providing staffing and financial resources to undergird each pillar.
PILLAR ONE: Center for African American Historic Preservation
This center researches, documents, and preserves our history. It further translates the wisdom and insights from the past into strategies and programs for the present.
PILLAR TWO: Center for Social Justice Conferences and Retreats
FCAB as a year-round welcoming facility which offers overnight accommodations, meals and meeting spaces for social justice training, education and empowerment; provides meditation spaces, gardens and nature trails for transformation and healing. The Center is a space for environmental and recreational events.
PILLAR THREE: Center for Rural Educational and Economic Development
FCAB has been rooted as an agricultural existence in this rural area since 1895. It exists as a life-giving presence working in partnership with city, county, and educational leaders for educational and economic development.
PILLAR FOUR: Center for Land-based Innovation
Our 250-plus acres is a major asset for addressing economic and educational issues of the rural setting in which we are located.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING ATTRIBUTES:
LEADERSHIP NEEDS
Direct the Center’s 245-acre site, including historic buildings, conference and retreat facilities, hospitality functions (Food and Lodging), land and cemetery in a manner that ensures these resources are maintained as sanitary, safe, secure and sacred.
IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS
POSITION DETAILS
This position is full-time salaried and not remote.
COMPENSATION
The benefits package includes paid time off, holiday pay, medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, and retirement. The salary range is $75,000-$85,000 annually. Opportunity for bonuses.
