Saturday, August 6, 2022

10am to 4pm

The historic sacred grounds of Franklinton Center at Bricks will be open for a day of celebration and prophetic witness.  Come home to FCAB and feel the depths of love and compassion.

In 1871 Franklinton Christian College (Franklinton, NC) opened as a gift of the Afro-Christian Church, meanwhile in 1895 the Joseph Keasby Brick Agricultural, Industrial, and Normal School (Whitakers, NC) was founded through a donation to the American Missionary Association – following the legacy of Booker T. Washington’s Tuskegee Normal and Industrial School in Alabama.

According to the 1998 program for Franklinton Center Day, the legacies of these two like-minded Black institutions “integrated [becoming one] on November 19, 1954, the AMA (now a division of the United Church Board for Homeland Ministries) deeded approximately 160 acres of the Brick property to Franklinton Center, which officially incorporated in 1946 in Franklinton, NC, as an institution for educating ministers, laity, and youth; sponsoring and hosting retreats, recreation, community development and such other activities as may be in harmony with the ideals and purposes of the Church.'”

Today, Franklinton Center at Bricks, Inc. welcomes guests and visitors from across the United States and around the world.  Everyone who enters its grounds is at home.

Home is where the heart is at peace.
