Dear Friends of Franklinton Center at Bricks:
During this unprecedented time of multiple pandemics, please know that the Board and the staff of Franklinton Center at Bricks are praying for you and your loved ones, hoping you are safe.
Franklinton Center at Bricks is a non-profit that is proud of a history enriched in the racial, social, educational, economic, and environmental justice of the peoples of where we reside and beyond. We have been “home” to many organizations that train and take respite from their work in those areas just mentioned.
While we are not and cannot operate as a conference and retreat center, we want you to be aware that the FCAB staff is still at work. We are still in business; however, we are focusing our efforts with more intention to love of local community.
Here are just a few things we are doing, while COVID-19 grips the nation:
Creating a Community Advisory Board to keep us aware of current needs
Developing a free Wi-Fi zone for students and a learning center for parents
Using FCAB as a tele-health site and training for that use
Partnering with one of the high school systems (Halifax County Schools) to support a student-led farm to provide free fruits and vegetables in this food dessert
Creating an environment to train our young people on justice issues; showing them ways to respond and peacefully protest
Our staff, though small is committed to Franklinton Center and its vision “To manifest a world where systemic oppression does not exist; the whole divinity of a person is realized; the memory, contribution and resilience of our ancestors is embraced; and the environment is healed. This world embodies the gifts of learning, outdoor play, teaching, health, safety, love and connection to beloved community.”
We ask that you please support Franklinton Center at Bricks as it continues seeking to thrive in the midst of this global pandemic. Please donate to this work by clicking the GIVE button. You can also donate through regular mail at P.O. Box 220, Whitakers, N.C. 27891.
We will continue to keep you updated as our situation evolves. Again, we hope you and your families are safe and well, and, as always, all of us here at Franklinton Center at Bricks genuinely appreciate your support.
Can we count on your continued prayers and monetary support to carry us through until we can physically meet again?
With gratitude,
Dale Bonds, Board Chair,
Franklinton Center at Bricks
